Ashley Hinson visited our family farm in Plainfield in September. During her visit, we discussed the rising costs associated with running our operation across Iowa and Minnesota. Everything has gotten more expensive and frustrating, from insuring our trucks that carry our crops to market, to the cost dynamics of the fertilizer we use on our land. It’s no secret that it’s been a challenging few years for Iowa’s farmers, but hopefully we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I was excited to see Hinson introduce a bill to address price transparency in the fertilizer market. We need more stability in the markets that control our input costs.
