Marion, IA – Ashley Hinson launched a new ad for the general election today, “Explain.” The ad is set to air on broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms across Iowa.
“Josh Turek is lying and he knows it. Of course I voted to release the Epstein Files and spent years working across the aisle to protect survivors of sexual abuse. Men like Epstein, who hurt children, they’ll have to answer to God. But men who lie about it to win an election, they’ll have to answer to you.”
Ashley’s bipartisan record of protecting victims of sexual abuse:
- Ashley Hinson voted to release the Epstein files.
- In 2019, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law that Ashley introduced in the Iowa State House to require school districts to report allegations of sexual harassment and outline disciplinary action taken within 30 days of the reported misconduct. This was in response to Linn-Mar School in Marion, Iowa failing to report three years of allegations of misconduct by at least 10 students at the hands of a teacher.
- Ashley partnered with a Democrat in the state house to introduce Marsy’s Law, which would enshrine in the state constitution certain and enforceable rights for victims of crime, including but not limited to, the right to reasonable protection from the accused, the right to restitution, and the right to notification of the status of the offender.
- In Congress, Ashley introduced legislation to help prevent sexual harassment at the VA and supported legislation – which passed out of the House of Representatives – to provide funds for the Crime Victims Fund and the Domestic Violence Hotline.
- Ashley voted to provide funding to alleviate the backlog of rape kit tests, which became law and helped the FBI eliminate the DNA processing backlog.
- As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Ashley introduced an amendment to stop a $50 million program to pay for legal fees for illegal immigrants and instead dedicate those resources to DNA backlog grants.
- Ashley voted for H. Res. 1399 – Directing the Committee on Ethics to preserve and publicly release records relating to monetary settlements involving acts of sexual harassment.
