Marion, IA – Liberal U.S. Senate candidate Josh Turek missed hundreds of critical votes – more than 58% of votes during the 2026 legislative session – failing to do his basic duties as a legislator for his constituents. Despite missing hundreds of votes, Turek took the full taxpayer funded per diem of more than $20,000.

If the average American didn’t do the core responsibility of their job over half the time, they’d be fired – not promoted. Turek is an absentee legislator and doesn’t deserve the promotion he’s asking for.

On Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, Josh Turek skipped the vote to make it harder for politicians to raise Iowans’ taxes.

“In the Senate, Josh Turek would raise taxes on working families, make life more expensive, and give free healthcare to illegal immigrants,” said Hinson Campaign Communications Director Billy Fuerst. “But Iowans won’t give him the chance.”
