After cruising to a victory Tuesday night in the primary, Ashley Hinson is in strong position to defeat Congresswoman Finkenauer this November. Several high profile media outlets across the country acknowledged her campaign’s success. The campaign volunteer effort contacted over 150,000 voters prior to the primary election resulting in her receiving nearly 80% of the vote.
Ashley’s priorities resonate with the people of eastern Iowa: reforming our broken healthcare system, lowering the costs of prescription drugs, standing up to China, and getting money back into the pockets of hard working Iowans.
The state of the campaign is strong with nearly $1.1 million cash at hand. Campaign manager Jimmy Peacock states, “We’ve been able to run a general election campaign and focus entirely on Congresswoman Finkenauer for the past year. Iowans are ready for Ashley’s common sense leadership, and we are seeing just that.”
Ashley was recently elevated to the highest tier of the ‘Young Gun Program’ by the National Republican Congressional Committee after establishing her clear path to victory. National political forecasters believe the 1st Congressional District will be one of the most competitive races in 2020. The Cook Political Report has rated IA-01 as “Toss Up.”
Ashley has a record of winning tough elections. She won in 2016 in a swing district to help hold the Iowa House majority and outperformed the Republican ticket by 5-8 points across House District 67, the heart of IA-01. She won 9 of 13 precincts in House District 67 in spite of Democratic outside groups outspending Republican outside groups.
