Hinson Announces Re-Election Campaign in New IA-2

Marion, IA- Today, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson announced that she will be running for re-election in Iowa’s new 2nd Congressional District in 2022. Congresswoman Hinson already represents nearly 90% of Iowans in the newly drawn IA-2. Congresswoman Hinson looks forward to running in her home district, serving the vast majority of Iowans who sent her to Congress in 2020, and working to earn the support of new voters.

“I am running for re-election in Iowa’s new 2nd Congressional District, and I am honored to have the opportunity to continue working for so many Iowans that I currently serve. When I first ran for Congress, I promised Northeast Iowans that I would be a fighter for working families, be a strong voice for rural America, and bring a dose of common sense to Washington––and I’m keeping each of those promises. With Speaker Pelosi and President Biden pushing disastrous socialist policies, there has never been a more important time to have a common-sense conservative in Congress, and I am just getting started fighting and delivering for Iowans.” -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Background:

Nearly 90% of the population and 16 of the 22 counties encompassed in the new 2nd Congressional District were in the former 1st District that Congresswoman Hinson won in 2020 and currently represents in Congress.

Ashley Hinson flipped Iowa’s 1st District in 2020 and serves on the House Appropriations and House Budget Committees. Hinson announced that she will be running for re-election in 2022 at her first annual BBQ Bash in Central City, IA, with over 700 attendees and shattered the Iowa off-year fundraising records in Q2 and Q3 of 2021. Hinson has been actively recruiting strong candidates to run for Congress to best position Republicans to take back the House in 2022 and recently joined the RSLC’s Right Leaders Network to help mentor future candidates.
