Pelosi launches attack to save Finkenauer
Marion, IA – Below is a statement regarding Nancy Pelosi’s Super PAC attacking Ashley Hinson in Iowa’s First Congressional District.
“Nancy Pelosi’s Super PAC is rushing to Congresswoman Finkenauer’s defense because Nancy knows Congresswoman Finkenauer is on track to be fired by Iowans. Iowans deserve someone in Congress who will fight for them, not their California donors. It’s ironic that Nancy Pelosi would attack Ashley for funding given that only about 15 percent of Congresswoman Finkenauer’s donations are from the State of Iowa. Congresswoman Finkenauer also receives twice the amount of funding from California than she does from Iowa. Ashley is in the highest tier of the ‘Young Gun Program’ by the National Republican Congressional Committee after establishing her clear path to victory. National political forecasters believe the 1st Congressional District will be one of the most competitive races in 2020. The Cook Political Report has rated IA-01 as “Toss Up.”
Ashley has a record of winning tight elections. She won in 2018 in a swing district to help hold the Iowa House majority and outperformed the Republican ticket by 5-8 points across House District 67, the heart of IA-01. She won 9 of 13 precincts in House District 67 despite Democratic outside groups outspending Republican outside groups.
